ERZURUM, Turkey (AA) - A 16-year-old shepherd who lost both of his arms while trying to save a pigeon still dreams of watching his beloved Fenerbahce play at their home ground once he recovers.

Ramazan Tasdemir, from Diyadin in the eastern province of Agri, was electrocuted as he freed a pigeon trapped in electricity cables, losing his arms.

The teenager has since been receiving treatment at the Training and Research Hospital in Erzurum.

A big supporter of Istanbul’s Fenerbahce football club, Tasdemir is always with his yellow-and-blue shirt, even in hospital.

"One of my biggest dreams, when I get well, is to see Fenerbahce at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium,” he said, referring to the club’s ground. “I love my team very much.”

Although Tasdemir said he will never forget the accident, he has “never regretted saving the pigeon” despite losing his arms.

The Ministry of Family and Social Policy is to pay for prosthetic arms for the teen. "I broke my wings, they want to fix them,” he said. “They will slowly build my arms.”

His mother Fatma Tasdemir burst into tears as she listened to her son and thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Binali Yildirim for their support.

“I want nothing but I want my son to have arms,” she told Anadolu Agency.
