Countdown starts for Istanbul Photo Awards applications

ANKARA (AA) – Only a few days have left for the applications of Istanbul Photo Awards, the international news photography contest organized by the Anadolu Agency to promote press photography worldwide.

Reuter’s seasoned photojournalist Goran Tomasevic, regarding the remaining days for the application, addressed to professional photographers around the globe.

“I would like to invite all my colleagues to submit your photographs for the prestigious Istanbul Photo Awards 2021 where you will have an opportunity to meet the top photography professionals,” he said.

Calling on his colleagues to summarize 2020 with their shots, Tomasevic continued, “Photography is irreplaceable, it is the best and authentic witness of the history. We as photographers are always present when important events happen.”

Applications for 2021 are open for professional photographers until March 18, via www.istanbulphotoawards.com.

The participants can apply with photographs regarding the year 2020 in six different categories: Single News, Story News, Single Sports, Story Sports, Story Daily Life, and Story Portrait.

The winner of Photo of the Year, who is Single News category first prize winner, will be awarded $6,000.

The winners in other categories will be awarded $3,000 for first prize, $1,500 for second prize, and $1,000 for third. Only first place will be awarded in Story Daily Life and Story Portrait categories.

Information about the jury of 2021 and the winning photographs of previous years can be accessed on the website of the contest which has received hundreds of applications this year, as did in recent years.
