ISTANBUL (AA) - A criminal investigation was launched on Monday after a 23-year-old nationalist activist was killed during clashes between far-left and far-right groups in Lyon, France.
Lyon public prosecutor Thierry Dran announced that a criminal investigation on charges of “intentional homicide” has been opened, according to broadcaster BFMTV.
A separate investigation has also been launched for “aggravated violence under three circumstances: acting as a group, being masked, and carrying a weapon, as well as criminal conspiracy.”
Quentin Deranque died on Saturday after being severely beaten during clashes between far-left and far-right groups.
Dran noted that he was attacked by “at least six” individuals.
While no arrests have been made at this stage, several suspects have reportedly been identified.
