Cuba demands urgent global action to halt Israeli escalation against Iran
Havana warns of potential US aggression and catastrophic consequences as it partially evacuates its embassy in Iran

BOGOTA, Colombia (AA) - Cuba called Thursday for an "urgent mobilization" of the international community to halt Israel's military escalation against Iran and warned of possible "direct US aggression."
Cuba expresses “its deep concern and warns of the imminent risk of escalation of Israel's war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the threat of direct US aggression, and the danger of the conflict turning nuclear or of radioactive leaks with disastrous and devastating consequences for humanity,” said a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It further asserted that US "financial, political and military support for Israel" along with "threatening statements and the recent deployment of military means in the region" are destabilizing factors that dangerously escalate the conflict.
The ministry issued an urgent call for "peace through dialogue and negotiations without preconditions or under pressure."
The Cuban embassy in Iran was partially evacuated amid Israeli attacks against Iranian military, nuclear and economic sites.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla announced Thursday that women, a minor and three journalists from the Cuban embassy were evacuated due to the "Zionist aggression against Iran."
He added on X that despite the evacuation, "our mission continues daily work and provides consular assistance to Cubans residing in Iran."
The latest report from Iran put the death toll from Israeli attacks on the country at 224 and the wounded at 1,277.
The Washington-based group Human Rights Activists said Thursday that Israeli strikes on Iran have killed at least 639 people and wounded 1,329.
