De Ligt arrives in Italy ahead of Juventus transfer

Italian giants are expected to pay €75 million for young defender

ANKARA (AA) – Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt arrived in Italy late Tuesday to finalize his transfer to European football giants Juventus.

Juventus posted photos and a short video of the 19-year-old star on its official Twitter page shortly after De Ligt landed at Turin-Caselle Airport.

“I'm really happy to be here,” he said.

According to Football Italia, Juventus will pay a total of €75 million ($83 million) to Ajax Football Club.

With De Ligt on the horizon and the addition of 21-year-old Turkish defender Merih Demiral, Italian powerhouse Juventus aim to rejuvenate their aging defense line in the coming years.
