ISTANBUL (AA) - The death toll increased to two on Tuesday from a 5.8 magnitude earthquake on Sunday in Indonesia.
The second victim, Ernius Bambe, 57, died early Tuesday, according to the state news agency Antara.
The first victim, Katrin Kande, 43, died late Sunday.
The magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit central Sulawesi early Sunday, injuring at least 32 people and damaging 45 houses, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency.
Two patients are in intensive care, while nine are under surgical treatment, according to Regional Public Hospital director Jemy Wololy, who was cited by Antara.
The patients have been receiving medical treatment in emergency tents due to aftershock concerns and any potential evacuations.
The quake affected the Poso Regency, with tremors felt in nearby regions.
The local government has declared a 14-day emergency response period from Monday to the end of the month.
Indonesia, located on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” experiences frequent seismic activity and has more than 120 active volcanoes.
