Defending champion Algeria eliminated from AFCON 2022

ANKARA (AA) - The defending champions Algeria have been eliminated from the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as they finished bottom of Group E without winning any game.

Algeria lost to Ivory Coast 3-1, while Equatorial Guinea defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 in the last games of Group E of the AFCON 2022.

Algeria only had one point.

Meanwhile, leaders Ivory Coast and runners-up Equatorial Guinea have four and three points, respectively, and they reached the round of 16.

Reigning champions Algeria bagged the title twice, in 1990 and 2019.
