Democrats in US criticize Trump administration over its attacks on Iran

ISTANBUL (AA) - The attacks on Iran by the US and Israel have also brought sharp criticism from Democrats toward President Donald Trump’s administration.

According to a report by The New York Times, the strikes carried out by Israel and the US on Iran have drawn criticism from Democrats.

Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell criticized the attacks on Iran, saying they are “not consistent with our values,” while Senator Mark Kelly accused the Trump administration of acting impulsively without considering the next steps.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and Pennsylvania’s Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro argued that Trump’s approach puts Americans at risk and undermines the country’s national security interests.

Democratic Representative Ro Khanna and Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said diplomatic options had been ignored.

Describing Trump’s decisions as “deliberate aggression,” the two argued that peaceful solutions were intentionally abandoned.

Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut also described the attacks on Iran as a “disaster” and “illegal,” stating that Trump was “dragging the country into a quagmire.”

Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego accused the Trump administration of putting people’s lives at risk.
