DHKP-C terrorist gets 5-year jail term in Germany

BERLIN (AA) - A German court on Thursday sentenced a member of the far-left terrorist DHKP-C to five years in jail.

The High State Court in Hamburg handed down the jail term to the terrorist, 47, on the charge of “being a manager of a foreign terror group.”

The individual, accused of being a senior member of the terror group in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany since 2002, was arrested in Belgium in 2017 and extradited to Germany, according to a judicial source.

Besides Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union list the DHKP-C as a terror organization.

The group has claimed responsibility for various terror attacks in Turkey, including a 2013 attack which martyred a Turkish security guard at the U.S. Embassy in Ankara.
