OPINION - Regional forums meet in Dushanbe to discuss Afghanistan

LONDON (AA) - The heads of states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization member nations will meet for the first time in Tajik capital Dushanbe, where they will discuss Afghan issues, a spokesman of Tajik Foreign Ministry has announced. Apart from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, five of the eight states of SCO -- China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, India, and Pakistan -- border with Afghanistan (also a SCO observer state). This will be the first major exchange of regional countries since the Taliban announced their interim government in Kabul on Sept. 7.
