2nd phase negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza

Developments in negotiations on phase two of Gaza ceasefire deal. Phase one, which includes a prisoner exchange, started on Jan. 19 and is set to last for 42 days.

Qatar says it is too early to talk about the resettlement of Palestinians from the enclave, and that Doha is busy trying to bring about the second phase of a deal to halt the war between Israel and Hamas, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari told Fox News.

“We know that there is a lot of trauma with the Palestinian side when it comes to displacement. However, again, it’s too early to talk about this, because we don’t know how this war will end,” he added.

Negotiations on the second phase of the agreement were scheduled to start on Monday, but Netanyahu decided not to send his negotiators to Doha until he meets with Trump later Tuesday.

Besides, Oman, Jordan and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their rejection of any attempts aimed at displacing Palestinians from their land, stressing the need for a just resolution to the Palestinian cause.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation considered that these statements contribute to the consolidation of occupation, colonial settlement, and the forcible seizure of Palestinian land, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the principles of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

In Israel, Trump's remarks sparked mixed reactions. While some ministers and Knesset members welcomed them, others warned of their potential impact on regional stability.
