Large-scale anti-government "No Kings" protests are expected to draw millions across the US, including in Washington, DC, where labor groups and activist networks are expected to hold a flagship rally in front of the Capitol. A total of about 2,500 protests are planned in every US state, as well as Canada, Mexico, and Europe, according to organizers.

The protests, set to be held against “authoritarian” policies of the Trump administration. Senators Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Chris Murphy of Connecticut are expected to take part in Washington.

South Korea brings home some 60 citizens detained in Cambodia for involvement in online scam operations. It comes amid reports of deaths as well as torture among the South Koreans in the Southeast Asian nation.


Political developments in Japan

Ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is expected to seal a deal with smaller opposition Japan Innovation Party for an alliance to elect new premier. A formal deal will make LDP's newly elected President Sanae Takaichi become Japan's first female prime minister. Japan has seen volatile political climate over past months as LDP struggles to restore majority in the parliament.
