Drone kills 2 PKK terrorists in nortern Iraq

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish armed drone killed two PKK terrorists in northern Iraq while security forces seized weapons in southeast Turkey, a military source said Monday.

The terrorists were killed in the Zap region of Iraq on Sunday, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.

In Turkey’s Hakkari province, soldiers from the 2nd Border Brigade captured a machine gun tripod and two Kalashnikov assault rifles during a search in Cukurca district, which lies on the Iraq border.

In Semdinli, Hakkari, a terrorist surrendered to security forces in a separate incident, also on Sunday.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year. Since then, more than 700 security force members have been martyred and around 8,000 PKK terrorists killed or apprehended.
