Egypt extends detention of ex-justice minister
Suleiman had served under former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013
By Mohamed al-Rayes
CAIRO (AA) – The Egyptian prosecution on Friday extended the detention of former Justice Minister Ahmed Suleiman for 15 days, the state-run Al Ahram newspaper reported.
Suleiman faces accusations of membership in a terrorist group and attempts to undermine national security.
The former minister was detained by security forces on Tuesday during a raid on his home in the central Minya province.
Suleiman had served under former President Mohamed Morsi, who was ousted in a military coup in 2013 after serving only one year in power.
Suleiman was appointed as justice minister in May 2013 and resigned after Morsi’s overthrow by the military.
