Egypt, Greece discuss deepening ‘strategic partnership’

Egypt’s top diplomat receives phone call from his newly appointed Greek counterpart

ISTANBUL (AA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call on Monday from his newly appointed Greek counterpart Vassili Kaskarelis, according to the country’s foreign ministry.

A ministry statement said the two chief diplomats exchanged views on advancing bilateral relations in the political, economic, trade and energy domains.

The two ministers reiterated keenness to deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries “in light of unprecedented regional and international challenges,” the statement said.

During the phone call, Shoukry congratulated his Greek counterpart on assuming his new post last month.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said the call between the two ministers was part of regular consultations and coordination between Egypt and Greece on a host of bilateral and regional issues in light of the distinguished relations binding the two countries.
