JERUSALEM, Palestine (AA) - Egypt offered a truce proposal between Israel and the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip to take effect on Thursday, an Israeli media outlet reported Tuesday.
"Cairo suggested the truce start at 6.00 a.m. [0400GMT] next Thursday," according to the report by Channel 12. It added that Hamas agreed to the proposal.
Attempts to reach Egyptian authorities or Hamas, which rules the besieged Gaza Strip, for comment have not been successful.
At least 217 Palestinians have been killed, including 63 children and 36 women, and 1,500 others injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since May 10, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Also, 12 Israelis have reportedly been killed in Palestinian rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.
