Egypt to attend 6-party summit in Israel: Report

JERUSALEM (AA) – Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is set to participate in a six-party summit in Israel, according to Israeli media on Saturday.

The KAN news channel said Shoukry, who will arrive in Israel on Sunday, will join his counterparts from the US, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Morocco, and Israel in the summit.

There was no comment from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on the report.

KAN said efforts are also ongoing to have Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi attend the summit.

On Friday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said Israel will host a two-day meeting with the top diplomats of the US, UAE, Bahrain and Morocco from Sunday.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is scheduled to arrive in Israel later Saturday as part of a regional tour that also includes the West Bank city of Ramallah, Morocco and Algeria.

The summit is expected to discuss the revival of the Iran nuclear deal and the Russian war on Ukraine.
