Egyptian efforts to broker Gaza cease-fire ‘failed’: Israeli media

At least 33 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since Tuesday, according to Health Ministry

JERUSALEM (AA) – Egyptian efforts to broker a cease-fire between Israel and Palestinian factions in Gaza have stalled, according to Israeli media on Saturday.

At least 33 Palestinians have been killed and dozens injured in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since Tuesday, which Tel Aviv says were in response to rocket fire from the coastal territory.

Palestinian factions retaliated by firing barrages of rockets into Israeli territories.

Israeli Army radio said Egyptian efforts to agree on a cease-fire between the two sides have failed.

A Palestinian source on Friday told Anadolu that Egypt has submitted a proposal for a temporary truce between the two sides as of Saturday.

Israeli Army radio reported that the proposal did not include an Israeli commitment to halt its assassinations in Gaza.

Egypt did not provide any details about its cease-fire proposal.

According to Palestinian figures, more than 160 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the start of this year. At least 20 Israelis have also been killed in separate attacks during the same period.
