CAIRO (AA) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Wednesday met with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, with whom he discussed means of enhancing bilateral ties, according to a statement released by al-Sisi’s office.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the sixth Egyptian/Greek/Greek Cypriot Administration summit, currently underway on the Greek island of Crete.

During their brief tête-à-tête, al-Sisi and Tsipras reportedly discussed means of consolidating bilateral relations, especially in the tourism, investment and energy sectors.

The discussion also reportedly tackled efforts to combat terrorism and irregular immigration, along with means of reviving the stalled peace process between the Palestinians and Israel.

Egypt, Greece and the Greek Cypriot Administration have held five previous joint summits with the stated aim of promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and maritime border demarcation.
