Elderly woman dies of heart attack after Israeli raid

RAMALLAH (AA) – An elderly Palestinian woman died of a heart attack late Tuesday after Israeli forces raided her house in the West Bank city of Jericho, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Hamda Al-Zubaidat, 60, died when Israeli forces stormed the house in Al-Zubaiydat village and fired stun grenades inside the building, it said in a statement.

At least four Palestinians were martyred and hundreds injured in clashes and Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since last week’s decision by U.S. President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The dramatic reverse in U.S. policy regarding neutrality on Jerusalem has sparked a storm of condemnations and a wave of protests in Arab and Muslim countries.

Jerusalem remains at the heart of the Israel-Palestine conflict, with Palestinians hoping that East Jerusalem -- occupied by Israel since 1967 -- might eventually serve as the capital of a Palestinian state.
