Epstein Files: Attorneys demand CIA, NSA disclosure on intelligence ties
Attorneys for Epstein's estate formally request CIA and NSA to release records on any operational ties, intelligence connections, or retained information involving the convicted sex offender

Epstein’s attorneys have formally demanded that the CIA and the National Security Agency (NSA) release all records related to any potential intelligence ties involving the disgraced financier.
According to a Washington Post report on Monday, attorneys representing Jeffrey Epstein’s estate have formally requested that both the CIA and NSA disclose any records indicating operational ties, affiliations, intelligence connections, or whether the NSA retained any information related to him.
The requests, filed under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), seek documents that could show whether Epstein had any acknowledged or open relationship with the agencies and whether any records -- classified or otherwise -- exist concerning him.
This move intensifies long-standing speculation about Epstein’s possible links to intelligence services. Previous FOIA responses from the CIA, including inquiries dating back to 1999 and 2011, found no evidence of open affiliations but declined to confirm or deny the existence of any classified material.
Similarly, the NSA has previously neither confirmed nor denied the existence of responsive records in related requests, citing concerns over potential harm to national security and the protection of intelligence sources and methods.
Recently released documents have drawn renewed attention to past interactions between Epstein and CIA Director William Burns. While serving as deputy secretary of state in 2014, Burns had scheduled meetings with Epstein, including a lunch at a Washington law firm and appointments at Epstein’s New York townhouse.
A spokesperson for Burns said he “deeply regrets ever meeting” Epstein and stated that all contact was cut off after Burns learned of Epstein’s 2008 criminal conviction in Florida.
