Ethiopian doctors hail Turkish healthcare system
Ethiopian health personnel delegation visited hospitals in Ankara, Istanbul
ADDIS ABABA (AA) - Ethiopian doctors find Turkey a suitable place to learn about the transformation of health services.
Turkey’s Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) told Anadolu Agency that 10 Ethiopian health personnel came to Turkey to get experience on patient treatment and clinical competence.
The delegation visited hospitals in Ankara and Istanbul during their 6-day stay in Turkey. They examined the overall healthcare system in the Turkish Ministry of Health, studied public health policies, public health data and acquired information about health investments and cooperation abroad.
The doctors’ visit came as part of a project by DEIK/Health Business Council to improve health tourism in Ethiopia.
Doctors from referral teaching hospitals of Mekelle University, Jimma University, Gonder University, Bahir Dar University, Hawassa University, Black Lion referral teaching hospital, and St. Pauls Millenium Hospital took part in the program.
The delegation said that they are keen to initiate educational and technical cooperation programs between Ethiopian private hospitals, referral teaching hospitals and other Ethiopian universities and hospitals with the Turkish counterparts.
