“Almost 4.07 million non-EU citizens, who fled Ukraine as a consequence of the Russian invasion on 24 February 2022, had temporary protection status in EU countries,” Eurostat said in a statement.

According to the latest data compiled on June 30, Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic are hosting the largest communities of Ukrainian refugees with 1.133 million, 978,000, and 349,000 people, respectively.

However, the number of Ukrainian refugees has decreased by 1.4% (13,600 people) in Poland, compared to May.

Germany and the Czech Republic registered a slight growth, granting protection to 21,800 people (2%) and 9,000 people (2.7%), respectively.

Compared with their total population, Poland and the Czech Republic welcomed the most Ukrainians.

The two countries have on average 32.2 and 26.6 refugees per 1,000 inhabitants in contrast to the EU average of 9.1.

At 46.6%, adult women made up the greatest share of Ukrainian refugees in the EU, while the second-biggest group was children, representing 34.4%.
