Euro area trade surplus comes in at $6.9B in July

Eurozone exports of goods to rest of world total €227.8B in July, imports stand at €221.3B

ANKARA (AA) – The eurozone trade surplus amounted to €6.5 billion ($6.9 billion) in July, according to official data released on Friday.

It was a fall on a monthly basis, as trade balance posted a €18.5 billion surplus in June.

The figure improved from a €36.3 billion deficit in July 2022, the Eurostat data showed.

Euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world fell 2.7% from a year ago to €227.8 billion in July.

Imports dropped 18.2% year-on-year to €221.3 billion in the month.

Intra-euro area trade amounted to €211.8 billion in July, a 7.9% decrease from last year.

The EU27 ran a trade surplus of €4.9 billion in July, compared to a deficit of €43.4 billion year-on-year.

In January-July, the eurozone's overseas shipments amounted to €1.66 trillion, while its imports were €1.66 trillion.

As a result, the single-currency zone recorded a surplus of €2.7 billion in the first seven months of this year.
