European stocks close mixed

ISTANBUL (AA) - European stocks ended Tuesday with a mixed course.

The pan-European Stoxx Europe 600 index rose 0.23% to close at 629.14.

France's CAC 40 index increased 0.26% to end the day at 8,519.21.

Germany's DAX 40, on the other hand, was down 0.02% to 24,986.25 points, and the UK's FTSE 100 index fell 0.04% to 10,680.59.

Italy’s FTSE MIB 30 was also off 0.1% to 46,651.72, and Spain's IBEX 35 dropped 0.54% to 18,189.5.

Investors are focusing on the global trade effect of tariffs recently imposed by US President Donald Trump.

Following the Supreme Court's ruling last week that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), on which Trump based some of his tariffs, does not grant the president the authority to impose tariffs, the 10% global tariff on all countries, announced by Trump under Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act, went into effect today.

Although Trump has indicated he will increase tariffs to 15%, a decision on the matter has not yet been formalized.

The euro/dollar parity was mostly stable at 1.1786.
