Ex-Cambodian opposition lawmaker shot dead in Thailand
Lim Kimya had arrived in Thai capital Bangkok along with his wife, uncle from Siem Reap, Cambodia's 2nd-largest city

ANKARA (AA) — A former Cambodian opposition lawmaker was shot dead by a person or persons unknown in the Thai capital Bangkok on Tuesday evening, according to local media.
Lim Kimya, 73, died on the spot after a motorcyclist opened fire on him in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district, The Bangkok Post reported.
Lim had arrived by bus in the capital along with his wife, a French national, and uncle from Siem Reap, Cambodia's second-largest city.
Local police said that surveillance camera video from the scene showed a man riding on a motorcycle shot him dead.
A dual national, Lim also had French citizenship.
He was a member of the Cambodia National Rescue Party, which was the country’s main opposition party before it was dissolved by court order in 2017, according to reports.
