KYIV, Ukraine / ISTANBUL (AA) - Explosions were reported Thursday from several cities across Ukraine in a sign of renewed Russian attacks.

“Explosions in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital. All services are en route to the site. More details later,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram.

“Another explosion in the capital. Sviatoshynskyi district. Emergency services are rushing to the scene. Cars are burning in the yard of one of the residential buildings. The air alert continues," Klitschko added.

He confirmed two casualties in Sviatoshynskyi district.

Meanwhile, Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synegubov said that Russian forces launched attacks on the city located close to the Russian border.

About 15 strikes hit critical infrastructure in Kharkiv, Synegubov added.

Maksym Marchenko, governor of the Black Sea city of Odesa, said a mass missile attack had hit an energy facility, triggering power cuts.

“As a result of a mass missile strike, an energy infrastructure site was hit in the region as well as residences,” Marchenko said on Telegram, adding that there were no casualties.

Air raid alerts sounded for hours in many parts of Ukraine.

Russia launched a war on Ukraine last year resulting in mass casualties.
