Explosions heard in multiple regions of Ukraine

ISTANBUL (AA) - Explosions were heard in multiple regions of Ukraine on Thursday, as air raid alerts were sounded in the country’s southern and eastern regions, as well as in the Kyiv region.

Oleh Synyehubov, the mayor of the Kharkiv region, announced on Telegram that a missile presumed to be from an S-300 hit an administrative building in the Kupiansk district, resulting in one person being injured.

“At least two people are currently under the rubble. All rescue services are working on the site,” Synyehubov said.

Separately, Mariupol mayor’s aide Petro Andryushchenko said that three explosions were heard in the region, with two having been reported near the Mariupol Metallurgical Plant.

Andryushchenko later confirmed that the third explosion occurred at the airport close to the city.

Explosions were also heard in the Kyiv and Odesa regions but were later confirmed to be the work of air defense systems by local officials.

As the Ukraine war nears one year, air raid alerts sound on almost a daily basis due to missile and drone strikes after an explosion damaged Russia's key Kerch Bridge connecting the country with the Crimean Peninsula last October.
