Fenerbahce seek to oust Basaksehir from second spot

Basaksehir suffer last league loss on Aug. 24, beaten by Fenerbahce 2-1 at home in first half of Super Lig

ANKARA (AA) - Fenerbahce will take on Medipol Basaksehir in Istanbul clash to claim an advantage in the title race of the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.

Yellow Canaries are currently in fourth spot with 34 points, two points behind the second-placed Basaksehir.

Fenerbahce recorded a three-match winning streak to stay in the league's title race.

Basaksehir are unbeaten in last 16 league matches since Aug. 24., as they suffered their last defeat by Fenerbahce 2-1 at home in the first half the league.

Medipol Basaksehir have been eliminated from Ziraat Turkish Cup in a surprising 0-0 draw against a lower division side Kirklarelispor on Tuesday.

The Week 19 match will tip off at 1700GMT in the Ulker Stadium.

Super Lig's surprise leaders Demir Grup Sivasspor will host Caykur Rizespor on Monday to consolidate their lead on the table.

Sivasspor are now four points clear of Basaksehir, seeking to maintain their heroic run for the rest of the season.

Caykur Rizespor have 23 points to be in the 11th place.

The match will begin in the Yeni Sivas 4 Eylul Stadium at 1700GMT.
