Fire is second in Iran's Isfahan province in less than a week

TEHRAN, Iran (AA) – A massive fire at a thermal power plant in central Iran's Isfahan province was extinguished on Tuesday.
In a statement, the crisis management department in Isfahan said a fire broke out in one of the "cooling towers" of the Shahid Abbaspour power plant at around 4:00 pm local time, which was extinguished by firefighters.
At least 30 rescue teams were rushed to the spot. There were no reports of deaths or injuries in the incident.
Officials said the power plant has five units that generate 820 MW of electricity, and the cooling tower that was engulfed in fire is tied to a unit with an output of 320 MW.
Videos of the fire have been circulating on social media, showing plumes of smoke and fire rising from the power plant.
It remains unclear how the power plant caught fire. An investigation has been ordered into the incident.
Tuesday's fire incident came two days after an industrial workshop in the same city caught fire due to the ignition of an alcohol container, officials said. The incident left at least seven people injured, including two men and five women.
