Flash floods kill 19 in eastern Indonesia
Heavy rains cause 18 landslides on tourist hotspot Bali

ISTANBUL (AA) - Flash floods in eastern Indonesia have killed at least 19 people, including 14 on the resort island of Bali, officials said Thursday.
Two people remain missing, National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Abdul Muhari said in a statement.
Eight of the dead were found in Bali’s capital, Denpasar.
Heavy rains also triggered 18 landslides in Gianyar, Karangasem and Badung districts.
Torrential rains on Tuesday and Wednesday caused rivers to overflow, inundating homes and infrastructure across Bali.
The provincial government has declared a weeklong state of emergency.
Separately, five people were killed and three injured in flash floods that hit East Nusa Tenggara province on Sunday and Monday.
Although rainfall has eased, the disaster agency urged residents to remain alert to flooding, flash floods, landslides and strong winds, warning that the risk of more heavy rain persists.

14 people were killed in floods in Indonesia’s tourist hotspot Bali, according to a statement from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency on Thursday.
Two people still remain missing, after more than 120 flooding areas across seven regencies and cities, it said.
Eight of the dead were discovered in the capital city Denpasar City.
562 residents were displaced.
Heavy rains also caused a total of 18 landslides in Gianyar, Karangasem, and Badung regions of Bali.
The island has been under the effect of heavy rains between Tuesday and Wednesday, affecting hundreds of people and daily life.
Separately, five people were killed, three were injured in flash floods that hit East Nusa Tenggara province in Sunday and Monday.
Three people remain missing while 30 others were temporarily displaced due to the floods, the agency said.
Although rainfall has eased, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency urged residents to remain alert to flooding, flash floods, landslides, and strong winds, warning that heavy rain risk persists in the region.
