Flights to resume normal at Geneva Airport after strike over pay dispute

Strike by 1,000+ airport workers impacted 8,000 passengers at Geneva Airport, says report

LONDON (AA) - Dozens of flights were canceled at Geneva Airport due to a strike over a pay dispute, but flights are set to resume normal operations as of July 1 after parties reached an agreement, according to the airport Friday.

The strike by over 1,000 passport control and security workers at Switzerland's second-largest airport impacted around 8,000 passengers, Swiss Info reported.

The airport initially decided to close the runway from 6 am to 10 am on Friday due to the strike. However, the airport later announced that a deal had been reached and operations would resume, allowing passengers to fly normally.

"Geneva Airport is therefore able to confirm that airport operations on 1 July 2023, the key holiday departure date, will go ahead as planned," it added.

In 2022, Geneva Airport served nearly 18 million passengers and facilitated 186,000 flights.
