ISTANBUL (AA) - Two flying cars, or electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles, crashed into each other during a rehearsal for an upcoming air show in China's northeastern Jilin province on Tuesday, injuring one person, local media reported on Wednesday.
"At the Changchun Air Show rehearsal this afternoon, two eVTOLs participating in the formation flight exercise collided due to insufficient flight distance," Chinese startup Xpeng Motors, which developed the vehicles, was quoted as saying by Yicai Global news outlet.
"One landed safely, while the other caught fire upon landing due to body damage,” it added.
The company said that the personnel on-site were safe, with the specific cause for the accident is under investigation.
The injured passenger was taken to a hospital and is not in danger.
Founded in 2013, Xpeng specializes in the research and development of modular flying cars, tiltrotor flying cars, and eVTOLs.
The Changchun Air Show is scheduled for Friday in Changchun, located in the northeastern Jilin Province of China.
