Football: Fenerbahce end first half with high note

Fenerbahce beat Trabzonspor 3-0 in an away match in Turkey's top football competition 'Spor Toto Super Lig'

ANKARA (AA) - Fenerbahce defeated Trabzonspor 3-0 in an away match on Monday night in Turkey's top football competition 'Spor Toto Super Lig'.

The match at Trabzonspor's Avni Aker Stadium saw Fenerbahce take over in the first half, when Brazilian striker Fernandao scored a penalty kick at 30th minute after the ball had hit Trabzonspor player Yusuf Erdogan by hand.

Erdogan was ejected with a red card after the incident, leaving his team with ten men on the field.

Fenerbahce increased their lead to two only after ten minutes. This time forward Moussa Sow was the scorer, assisted by flamboyant winger Jeremain Lens.

In the second half, 'the yellow canaries' controlled the match and found another goal when Sow assisted and Lens was the scorer.

With the victory, Fenerbahce increased their total points to 31 and remained in the fourth spot.

The other match in the league saw Genclerbirligi using home court advantage against Bursaspor and winning 3-1.

The first half of the league ended with the matches played on Monday.
