ANKARA (AA) - Norwegian forward Ada Hegerberg, who plays for France's Olimpique Lyon, became the all-time leading scorer in the Women's Champions League.

The 24-year-old forward netted two goals against Fortuna Hjoring to become top goalscorer in the competition’s history, hammering her team 7-0 over Danish team on Wednesday.

"Against Fortuna Hjorring, OL qualified for the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday at home, where Ada Hegerberg became the top scorer in the history of the competition and where Jessica Silva scored her first," Olympique Lyon said in a statement.

The European football's governing body also congratulated her with publishing message on UEFA's official website on Wednesday.

"We salute a player with a career goals tally that would be the envy of strikers a decade older than a player still barely into her mid-20s," UEFA said.

This record previously was being held by Germany's Anja Mittag with 51, behind her another German player Conny Pohlers is in third place, who got 48 goals.

Throughout her career, Hegerberg, winner of the first women's Ballon d'Or, won four European trophies and five French "Division 1 Feminine" titles.

Hegerberg also helped his country clinch silver medal, losing to Germany 1-0 by Anja Mittag's goal in final of the UEFA Women's Euro 2013 in Sweden.
