ISTANBUL (AA) - Former Armenian Prime Minister and parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan was arrested Friday on charges including money laundering, abuse of official authority, and illegal participation in entrepreneurship, local media reported.

Abrahamyan faces multiple accusations tied to his time in public office, according to the country’s Anti-Corruption Committee.

No further details were provided on the scope or timeline of the alleged offenses.

Abrahamyan, who served as prime minister from 2014 to 2016 and earlier led the National Assembly, has faced past allegations of corruption but had not been formally charged.
