BOGOTA, Colombia (AA) - The son of former Honduran President Porfirio Lobo was killed with three young men after they were shot several times Thursday while leaving a nightclub in the nation’s capital of Tegucigalpa.

Said Lobo and three companions were pulled from two vehicles by five gunmen who blocked the exit of a parking ramp, security video showed that has been circulating on social media.

The attackers are seen with their faces covered and holding large-caliber weapons. Among those who died was a nephew of retired Armed Forces General Romeo Vasquez.

Lobo Bonilla's driver managed to shoot and wound one of the attackers before he was also killed.

The killing of the four men was confirmed by the former president, who called on authorities to "take action" because security issues in the Central American nation "are getting out of hand."

Another of the former president´s sons, Fabio Lobo, was sentenced in 2017 to 24 years in a US prison after pleading guilty to using his father’s position to bring cocaine into the US.
