ANKARA (AA) - French charity group Restaurants du Coeur said Friday it has served food to 22% more people since November.
Patrice Douret, the charity's head, told Radio Classique that half of the people receiving aid are younger than 25 years.
Douret said that since the beginning of the latest campaign last November, the number of people they have hosted has reached 1.1 million.
He added that the organization launched a new campaign on Friday to collect food products over the weekend.
"Food aid is vital for single-parent households," he said. "A pack of pasta becomes almost a luxury product (in such families)."
French statistical office Insee said the annual consumer inflation increased to 6.2% in February, according to provisional data released on Tuesday.
Food prices jumped 14.5% year-on-year in February, accelerated from a 13.3% hike in January, Insee added.
Usually, the homeless, unemployed, and people with low-income benefit from the organization's services.
