French drivers sell spare oil on second-hand goods apps

Oil stations suffer from supply issues due to refinery workers' walkout

ANKARA (AA) – French drivers have started to sell spare oil on second-hand goods applications, according to media reports.

A black market started to form in southern France, where in the Bouches-du-Rhone region, almost half of the stations are out of oil stocks, broadcaster Franceinfo reported Tuesday.

This is due to energy workers' walkout in oil refineries, protesting the government's pension reform.

Franceinfo reported various ads for oil, in which drivers sell it for relatively reasonable prices.

Energy workers in oil refineries walked out and blocked the transfer of oil to stations on March 7.

This move did not cause an immediate shortage, but stations started to have supply issues after the extension of the strike.

The government last week requisitioned the staff of some refineries and forced them back to work.

The reform plan which includes raising the retirement age from 62 to 64 by 2030, has triggered public outrage since it was revealed last year, with massive protests and strikes held across the country since January.
