French photojournalist killed by drone in Ukraine's Donbas region

ISTANBUL (AA) - French photojournalist Antoni Lallican was killed by a drone in eastern Ukraine on Friday, the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) announced.

Lallican was killed by a drone in the eastern Donbas region, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.

"This is the first time a journalist has been killed by a drone in Ukraine," the EFJ said in a statement.

French President Emmanuel Macron extended his condolences to his family and colleagues on the US social media company X.

"Our compatriot, photojournalist Antoni Lallican, was accompanying the Ukrainian army on the front line of the resistance. I have learned with deep sorrow of his death, the victim of a Russian drone attack," Macron said.
