ISTANBUL (AA) – French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou on Tuesday survived his eighth no-confidence vote in the National Assembly, local media reported.
The motion, which aimed to depose him, initiated by the Socialist Party and supported by the entire left, accused Bayrou of failing to present a bill to debate raising the retirement age to 64, according to BFM TV.
The censure motion received 189 votes, well short of the 289 needed to remove Bayrou’s government.
Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) party abstained from voting on the censure but indicated a possible no-confidence vote during budget talks scheduled for autumn.
