Fresh US airstrikes hit residential, agricultural areas in Yemen’s capital Sanaa

Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV says strikes damaged farmland, crops crucial for families’ survival

ISTANBUL (AA) – US fighter jets carried out new airstrikes early Friday targeting residential and agricultural zones in Yemen’s capital Sanaa, according to Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV.

The attacks reportedly struck multiple sites across the capital. Five consecutive strikes hit the Bani Hashish district, east of Sanaa, causing significant damage to public and private property.

Another strike targeted the Jabal Naqam area, also in the east, while three more struck Faj Attan in the Ma’in district, southwest of the city.

Two additional strikes hit farmland in the Al-Hawari area of Hamdan district, west of the capital. Al-Masirah said the land and crops hit were a vital source of income for many families.

Since March 15, Anadolu has recorded hundreds of US air raids across Yemen. Houthi-released figures say 116 civilians have been killed and 224 wounded, including women and children. These numbers exclude casualties among armed Houthi members.

Last month, US President Donald Trump said he ordered “decisive and powerful military action” against the Houthis and later warned he would “completely annihilate them.”

The Houthis have attacked ships in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait and Gulf of Aden since November 2023, done in support for Palestinians in Gaza, where Israeli strikes have killed more than 50,800 people.

The group paused attacks after a Gaza ceasefire in January but resumed them last month following renewed Israeli airstrikes on the enclave.
