Gaza death toll surges to nearly 70,400 since October 2023: Health Ministry

At least 386 Palestinians killed, 980 injured by Israeli fire since ceasefire

GAZA CITY, Palestine/ ISTANBUL (AA) – At least 70,366 Palestinians have been killed and 171,064 injured in Israel’s genocidal war since October 2023, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

A ministry statement said that six injured Palestinians succumbed to their wounds in the last 24 hours in Gaza.

The Israeli assault came to a halt under a ceasefire agreement that took effect on Oct. 10.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, at least 386 people have been killed and 980 others injured by Israeli army fire since the ceasefire.

On the entry of humanitarian aid, the media office said that an average of 226 aid trucks were allowed daily into Gaza, down from the minimum 600 trucks that Israel is required to allow under the ceasefire agreement.

Phase one of the deal includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also envisages the rebuilding of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.
