Gendarmerie arrest 5 for artifact smuggling in Turkey
Two gold-inlaid icons from Roman era seized in anti-smuggling operation in southeastern Diyarbakir province

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) - Security forces arrested five suspects in southeastern Turkey over the suspicion of artifact smuggling, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The Diyarbakir Governor’s Office said that two gold-inlaid icons from Roman era were seized in anti-smuggling operations in the province.
The gendarmerie arrested five suspects when it raided two separate addresses in Baglar district.
