ISTANBUL (AA) - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said Saturday that Azerbaijan plays a significant role in maintaining stability in the South Caucasus.

“We are proud of our close friendship with Azerbaijan. We are highly motivated to further deepen the strategic partnership, cooperation, and friendship between our countries,” Kobakhidze told the Azerbaijani state news agency, AZERTAC, at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, praising the strong ties between Tbilisi and Baku.

He thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and senior officials for their continuous support for Georgia, underlining bilateral relations remain at a high level and his government is committed to strengthening them even further.

Commenting on normalization talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, he noted: “Peace in the South Caucasus is vital for everyone, including Georgia. We welcome any agreements reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia.”

“If needed, Georgia is ready to support the dialogue and facilitate negotiations,” he said. “Our country has always played a positive role in regional peace efforts, and we are ready to continue that role.”

Georgia has long maintained balanced relations in the region and acted as a diplomatic bridge, especially during times of heightened tension.
