Grape harvest begins in southern Turkey
First greenhouse harvest of grapes has been made in Mersin province's Silifke district

MERSIN, Turkey (AA) - The first greenhouse harvest of grapes was made in southern Mersin province on Wednesday.
In a statement, Atayurt Marketplace Foundation President Ali Turer said the first greenhouse harvest of grapes was made in Silifke district of Mersin province following the harvest of strawberries, plums, melons and apricots.
Turer said the price of the first harvest was 20 Turkish liras ($5.65) per kilogram.
Underlining the importance of the harvest, Turer said: “20,000 tones of graves is harvested in some 20,000 acres of our district per year. Besides Alphonse, Toros Karasi, Razaki and Ata Sarisi, raw grapes and green grapes are cultivated as well.”
