Gunmen kill 30 in northwestern Nigeria
Armed attackers also burned some bodies while many others are still missing, according to local media

ISTANBUL (AA) - At least 30 people were killed in an armed attack in northwestern Nigeria, local media reported on Friday.
The attack was reported in several areas, including Charanci, Safana, Kurfi, and Kaita, of the Katsina State, according to local daily The Guardian.
Bandits who have significant control in Baure village are said to be behind the attack, according to local witnesses.
Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, spokesman for the Katsina State Police, confirmed the attack, adding that they are still gathering further details.
The attackers also burnt some bodies while many others are still missing, according to the report.
According to Nigeria's National Bureau of Statistics, the African nation recorded 614,937 deaths in attacks between May 2023 and April 2024.
The report showed banditry-ravaged northwest saw the highest figure with 206,030 killings.
Separately, police said Friday that two cops were killed as Boko Haram terrorists attacked a police base at Ngazai in the restive northeastern state of Borno.
Boko Haram fired several shots and threw explosives into the police station during the attack, leading to the death of two cops, the police confirmed in a statement.
