Hamas calls for global protests against resumption of Israeli genocide in Gaza

The Palestinian Hamas resistance group on Tuesday called for global protests and rallies against the resumption of Israeli genocide in Gaza.

The Gaza local authorities earlier said over 322 Palestinians were killed or missing after Israel resumed its deadly attacks on Gaza, breaking the ceasefire agreement that took effect on Jan. 19.

In a statement, senior Hamas official Izzat Al-Rishq called on the Arab and Islamic nations, as well as freedom-loving people worldwide, "to take to the streets and public squares, raising their voices in rejection of the resumption of the Zionist genocidal war against the people of Gaza."

"Netanyahu did not stop at preventing food and medicine from reaching them; he also bombed and killed Gaza's children while they were sleeping," Al-Rishq said.

He added that Netanyahu's decision to resume the war on Gaza "is a decision to sacrifice the occupation's prisoners and a death sentence against them."

Al-Rishq called on mediators and world leaders to expose the truth about Israel's actions and hold Netanyahu accountable for reigniting the conflict.

"Military pressure and brutal Zionist aggression will not succeed in breaking the will of our people and our resistance," the Hamas official said.

The Israeli army said early Tuesday that it conducted airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, the largest since a ceasefire with the Palestinian group Hamas took effect on Jan. 19.

The army claimed that it is attacking Hamas targets in Gaza. However, the images emerging from Gaza show that the majority of the victims are civilians, including children and women, whose homes were bombed during the night.

Despite the ceasefire, local authorities in Gaza had reported almost daily violations by the Israeli army.

Israeli attacks have killed more than 48,500 Palestinians since October 2023, most of them women and children, and left Gaza in ruins.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November last year for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
