People excessively exposed to electromagnetic radiation may experience health problems, says Turkish expert

ISTANBUL (AA) - A Turkish expert on Tuesday said that electromagnetic pollution, which has increased with the latest technological developments, can negatively affect all living things.
Osman Cerezci, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Uskudar University in Istanbul, said that electromagnetic pollution is accepted as environmental pollution in the scientific literature.
Cerezci noted that communication tools and many devices used at homes are powered by electricity.
“Electronic devices emit a type of light called electromagnetic radiation in the environment,” he said.
Underlining that the World Health Organization declared electromagnetic pollution as a carcinogen in 2001, Cerezci said people who are excessively exposed to electromagnetic radiation may experience health problems.
"It is now very clear that electromagnetic radiation causes a number of problems, including brain disorders, nervousness, and restlessness," said the expert.
Studies show that not only humans but animals are also badly affected by electromagnetic pollution, Cerezci noted.
A study has revealed that honey bees exposed to electromagnetic pollution have a decrease in their productivity, according to Cerezci.
