Industrial action hits London Underground network

LONDON (AA) - Tens of thousands of commuters in London were warned against traveling into the city on Monday due to a London Underground industrial action.

The tube trains will come to a standstill with most of the lines closed for 24 hours from 8 a.m. local time (0700GMT). Some lines will run a skeleton service.

The Transport for London warned people of “severe disruptions” of the service.

Around 4,000 members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) are holding the strike in a dispute over jobs and pensions.

On a typical working day, over 5 million journeys are made by commuters on the tube network that stretches over an area of 400 kilometers (248.5 miles).
